It. Is. Official.
I am formally and officially announcing the plan to go ahead with PWN's 2016 season. It's a go. There's enough info out there that has warranted me pulling the trigger, but a few things have changed. As you probably noticed, I removed a couple of speculation posts...because the info provided there wasn't concrete. Here, in this post...will be the DEFINITIVE info of what plans are being put in motion for preparation and format.
Now, originally I wanted to go the route of making PWN a CAW show similar to URWL and all of the other various shows. Sadly, due to there being no story designer or replay function in 2k16, that idea is out of the window. So we'll be sticking to the tried and true written roleplays we've all been accustomed to for years now. However, there will be a change to how it's categorized on the forum. Every show will have it's own sub-forum, and promos for said show are to be made in that sub-forum. As was planned for the last season that didn't happen, matches will be pre-booked...and handlers required to make promos to build up their matches. This will make archiving everything easier, and help out with the video format. (More on that below)
Next up comes characters. Can't have a wrestling company without characters. It's been now 3 long years since our last show. As such, I am prepared for the fact that some people may have moved on from E-wrestling completely. In that regard, I expect the PWN roster to be decidedly smaller then it was in May 2013, the last time we had a show. I'm still trying to reach out to people...but many of our handlers have scattered to the winds after the indefinite hiatus. I know how to reach some, others I had no line of contact with outside of the forum. So if you by chance know how to reach anyone...even if it's someone I can reach also, send them word that we're a go...and if they want to be part of PWN still, come back and let it be known.
Now, for how the videos will be provided. In a word...Youtube. It's the easiest possible way to distribute content...seeing as I have no server...and don't see myself blowing the cash to get one on what's going to be a casual endeavor. With that said, NO COPYRIGHTED MUSIC FOR ENTRANCE THEMES. Sorry, I don't feel like dealing with copyright claims. So you'll have to do some leg work for non-copyrighted music. You can find a lot on Youtube...as well as the net itself. For each match, a link to the corresponding promo will be put in the description...so anyone who watches can get back story on what they're watching.
I know what a couple people are thinking. "Does this mean we'll be scouting new characters?" The answer...no. I feel adding knew characters to PWN at this point is a waste. We need to re-establish the characters we have...if they even return. We have to get a flow going again...and people will need to get their legs back under them for promo writing. So even if you've always handled multiple characters in the past, I ask that you focus on your flagship character or either gender(If you've RP'd both genders) and gradually work any side characters in over time. Re-establishing the continuity is paramount.
As for the backstory of the hiatus in character? Still working on that one. I'll save that for another thread. Anyway...that's the plan going forward...and unless something otherwise comes up...I don't see myself deviating from it. When we have a surplus of at least 20 male characters and 10 female characters in the database, we'll start working towards getting a show going. If you read this and have intent on returning, post in this thread. Also, if you have any suggestions, feel free to post them as well. All will be taken into consideration.
Oz, out.
